Sara Lee Bauer

Sara Lee Bauer, 85, Columbia City, entered into her new life in heaven at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, at Oak Pointe Assisted Living, Columbia City, where she had been a resident for the past 18 months.

On Sept. 21, 1935, she entered this world in Fort Wayne, a daughter of the late Robert Paul and Lois Elizabeth (Roberts) Moyer. She grew up in Columbia City. Except for eighth grade, when she attended Adams County Schools, she completed her schooling in Columbia City graduating from Columbia City High School in 1953.

On May 7, 1955, she married Kenneth Herman Bauer. They made their home in rural Columbia City. Kenneth died Dec. 23, 2009.

She began her work career at Columbia Drug Store during high school. From 1970 to 1974, she worked at the Coesse School in the administrative office. For over 30 years, she worked in the Gates Law office as a legal secretary.

She attended Dunfee Missionary Church participating in the women’s ministry, teaching Sunday School, singing in the church choir, and playing the piano. She also helped maintain the church library.

She is survived by her children, David R. (Renee) Bauer, Michael A. (Angela) Bauer, Peter K. (Jaimie) Bauer all of Columbia City; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Jo Ann Geiger, Carol Watters, both of Columbia City and Victoria (George) Plotner of Naples, Fla.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Myra Lee Bauer and Laura Case.

A private family service will be held at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be at the Catholic section of the Green Hill Cemetery.
