ELKHART COUNTY — Noel R. Jimenez, 55, Bremen, died at South Bend Memorial from severe internal injuries as a result of a six-vehicle collision. The collision occurred at 2:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, on US 6 at CR 100, approximately one-half mile east of the Elkhart/Marshall county line.

Bret D. Sible, 24, Avilla, suffered lacerations on his hands and neck and complained of hip pain and was transported to Elkhart Hospital. He was driving a 2015 Isuzu NPR box truck

Lois M. Cook, 84, Nappanee, was taken to Goshen Hospital for complaint of rib pain. She was driving a 2014 Ford Escape.

Nathan J. Cardinal, 23, Lakeville, suffered facial lacerations and possible glass in his eyes. Two passengers in his vehicle, Cooper Cardinal, 4 and Nicholas Cardinal, 25, also suffered minor cuts or lacerations to the face and possible glass in eyes. They refused treatment at the scene but had a relative drive them to Bremen Hospital. He was driving a 2002 GMC Sierra

Travis J. Good, 27, Nappanee, and Fonda S. Ingole, 72, Nappanee, were not injured. Good was driving a 2020 Subaru Forester and Ingole was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Impala.

Jimenez was driving a 2016 Toyota RAV-4.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s officers report Jimenez, Cook, Nathan Cardinal, Good and Ingole were all stopped eastbound waiting for a vehicle to turn from US 6 onto CR 100. Sible was traveling eastbound on US 6 but failed to slow down or stop, crashing into the back of Jimenez’s vehicle. The impact caused a ripple effect causing both Sible’s and Jimenez’s vehicles to move forward and hit the other vehicles that were stopped in the roadway.

Sible was not cited at the scene but the crash is still under investigation with the Elkhart County Crash Investigation Team.
