SLFP did not approve MPs joining Cabinet
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) says it did not approve its MPs joining the Cabinet.
SLFP Leader and former President Maithripala Sirisena said that the SLFP position was that it will support the Government from outside.
SLFP MP Nimal Siripala de Silva was among those who obtained a Cabinet portfolio today.
“This was against the party position,” Sirisena said.
Maithripala Sirisena said that the SLFP had proposed forming an all-party Cabinet.
Sirisena said that the proposal was to form a National Executive Council which will select the Cabinet.
However, he said the current Cabinet is not an all-party Cabinet. (Colombo Gazette)
