Military continues to be placed on standby
The military continues to be placed on standby to maintain public order, through a gazette notice issued by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Issuing the gazette notice, the President noted that by virtue of the powers vested in him by Section 12 of the Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40), he has issued the order to call out with effect from June 22, 2022 all the members of the Armed Forces specified in the First Schedule hereto, for the maintenance of public order in the areas specified in the Second Schedule hereto.
Accordingly, the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force have been placed on standby.
The gazette notice has been renewed every month by the President. (Colombo Gazette)
