Sri Lanka under emergency, curfew in Western Province
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Western province is under curfew and and the entire country has been placed under emergency law, the Prime Minister’s office said as protests grew with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa expected to resign.
Protests were intensifying against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who will become acting President if Rajapaksa resigns today.
Police tea-gassed protestors near the Prime Ministers office on Wednesday.
Protestors also gathered around the Parliamentary speakers residence.
