Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will back Sri Lanka Freedom Party’s (SLFP) No Confidence Motion (NCM) against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, SJB MP Hector Appuharmy said yesterday. Speaking to journalists in Colombo, MP Appuharmy said removing Wickremesinghe is the need of the hour.

“No confidence motion against the Prime Minister will reveal whether he has a majority in Parliament or not,” he said.

Speaker should consider President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had vacated his post. Speaker should get the House to elect a new President,” he said.On Wednesday evening, Party leaders met the Speaker following a request by the heads of security forces. The party leaders agreed that Wickremesinghe must immediately resign, Appuharmy said.

He also said that Chief Prelates of the Malwatta and Asgiriya chapters, Amarapura and Ramanna Maha Nikaya have urged all party leaders to convene Parliament and establish a systematic governance.

“The Chief Prelates leaders of all political parties must focus on helping the people and get the economy back on track. This is what everyone wants. Except Ranil Wickremesinghe,” the SJB MP said.

Appuharmy said that Wickremesinghe has no mandate to govern the country and that security forces must be careful when following his orders.

“The country needs a government. An all party government that can negotiate with the IMF while listening to the people. For that Ranil must go,” he said.
