Inoka Ranaweera 4/7 bowls Sri Lanka Women into Asia Cup semi-final

Inoka Ranaweer bowled the Sri Lanka Women into the Women’s Asia Cup semi-final by a 4 for 7 demolition of Bangladesh Women in a 3-run triumph on the D/L at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Set 41 to win off 7 overs in the rain affected D/L method after Sri Lanka totalled 83 for 5 off 18.1, Bangladesh was shot out for 37.

Ranaweera’s stranglehold with the ball over the Bangla women was such that only the skipper Nigar Sultana entered double figures scoring 12 in the 18th match of the tournament.

Niluksha de Silva top scored for Sri Lanka Women with an unbeaten 28 off 31 balls followed by Harshitha Samarawickrama’s unbeaten 18 and 11 each by Kavisha Dilhari and Hasini Perera. Rumana Ahmed took 2 for 14 for Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka are placed 3rd in the points countdown having won 4 of 5 collecting 8 points with a net run rate of 1.205 next to second placed Pakistan with equal number of points from 4 wins from 5 matches but with a faster net run rate of 2.101 while India leads with 10 points from 5 wins from 6 matches for net run rate of 3.141.

Inoka Ranaweera capped her performance with the Player of the Match award.
