The Colombo Crimes Division has taken into custody four suspects for allegedly assaulting social media activist Dilan Senanayake with sharp weapons on 14 Dec.
Police headquarters said that Senanayake who was an Aragalaya activist had been assaulted and knifed by the suspects who too had been frequenting the Aragalaya site.
Two knives and a trishaw had also been taken into custody, Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said.
The suspects are residents of Dematagoda, Slave Island and Borella and are between the ages of 28 and 44 years.
The suspects had frequented the Aragalaya site at Galle Face as the protests against the government were in progress and there had been an altercation between Senanayake and the chief suspect who is now in custody, the police said.
