Country attracts more than 800,000 tourists by 8 August
More than 800,000 foreign tourists had visited Sri Lanka by 08 August, a Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) senior official said on Wednesday.
Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority Chairman Priyantha Fernando also told the media that Sri Lanka had received 30,303 tourists during the first six days of August.
India, the United Kingdom and China were the top source markets for August arrivals, Fernando said, adding that in 2022, the country received less than 720,000 tourists.
He mentioned that Sri Lanka had received the highest monthly tourist arrivals of 2023 in June with 143,039 arrivals.
