Lanka notched million foreign tourist arrivals for 2023 on Tuesday

Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) announced yesterday that daily tourist arrivals averaged 3,700.

It said the millionth tourist for the year had arrived in the country on Tuesday (26).

Sri Lanka has recorded 88,883 foreign tourist arrivals for the month by 26 September and earned Rs 416 billion from tourism during the first eight months of 2023. That was an increase of 56.7 percent compared to 2022, SLTDA said.

Most tourist arrivals were from India (170,247). There have also been 61,623 tourists from Germany. France, China and Australia accounted for 41,243, 39,186 and 37,743 tourists, respectively. (RK)
