Speaker: No outsiders allowed to attend parliamentary committee meetings without permission
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena yesterday informed Parliament that chairpersons of all parliamentary committees should seek his prior permission for outsiders to attend their meetings.
Making an announcement on recent allegations pertaining to COPE Chairman Prof Ranjith Bandara bringing his son to a COPE hearing on Sri Lanka Cricket, the Speaker said: “I have received complaints about the participation of outsiders at committee meetings. No outsiders are allowed to enter the meeting rooms during the parliamentary select committee meetings.”
