SSC and Police joint champs in rain marred final

SSC and Police SC were declared joint champions at the Sri Lanka Cricket Major Clubs League Tournament after the last three day’s play were washed out with not a ball bowled on the final day as well at the NCC grounds.

The game ended a stalemate with only one innings getting underway with SSC having scored 253 for 3 wickets on the opening day after being put into bat by the opposition.

The highlight was the century scored by SSCs Avishka Fernando and half century y Shevon Daniel in a 111-run opening partnership.

NCCs Lahiru Udara and Police SC’s Malinda Pushpakumara were adjudged the tournament’s  Best Batsman and Best Bowler while Tamil Union’s Ravindu Fernando took the top Player of the Tournament award.

The Championship trophy was received by SSC skipper Nipun Dhananjaya and Police SC skipper Ashen Bandara from the Sri Lanka Cricket’s Head of Cricket Development, Kamal Dharmasiri at the awards ceremony.
