Ragama CC all-rounder Janith Liyanage hogged the limelight with a scintillating run a ball match winning 126 and 5-wicket haul in helping his side to its maiden in crushing Kurunegala Youth CC by a comprehensive 138 runs in yesterday’s SLC 50-Over Major Clubs Tournament at the P. Saravanamuththu International Stadium.

Liyanage’s innings was showcased by 11 boundaries and 5 sixes as Ragama CC ran up a 296 for 8 off 50 overs.

Kurunegala YCC was bowled out for 158 runs with Liyanage getting back into the action picking 5 wickets for 29.

Meanwhile, Sinhalese Sports Club continued their unbeaten run defeating Ace Capital Cricket Club by 86 runs on skipper Charith Aslanka’s all-round performance scoring 64 in a score of 262 and claiming 2 wickets for 22 in decimating Ace Capital CC for 176 on their home grounds for their fourth win in bolstering their title hopes.

Negombo Cricket Club topped the Group A points table by their third win against Police Sports Club by a comprehensive 7 wickets on a score of 127 for 3 off 26.4 overs on Pasindu Lakshnka’s 52 having restricted their opponents to 123 for 8 in 45 overs at Katunayake.

CCC got the better of Moors SC by 2 wickets on a pivotal 76 by Minod Bhanuka in a score of 162 for 8 off 28.1 overs in overhauling their opponents 158 off 44 overs at the Moors Grounds.

Galle had it easy against Sebastianites C&AC notching a 5-wicket win reaching 207 for 5 off 49 overs on half centuries by Irosh Samarasinghe 62 and Buddika Hasaranga unbeaten on 59 in overhauling their opponents204 off b47.3 overs at their home grounds.

Bloomfield C&AC beat Panadura SC by 2 wickets Meanwhile, Bloomfield C&AC edged to a 2-wicket win over Panadura SC scoring 133 for 8 on Lahiru Madushanka’s unbeaten 41 in overhauling their opponents 130 on their home grounds. A remarkable feature was Bloomfield’s Sahan Nanayakkara returning splendid figures of 4 for 19.
