SLPP to hold disciplinary inquiry against Wijeyadasa for accepting post of SLFP Acting Chairman

SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam said yesterday that his party would conduct a disciplinary inquiry against Justice Minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe against his accepting the post of the Acting Chairman of the SLFP.

Kariyawasam said it was wrong for Minister Rajapakshe, a member of the SLPP, to have accepted a position in another party and the latter would have to face an inquiry.

“This is against the SLPP Constitution and we are not sure whether the Justice Minister has accepted SLFP membership to accept that post. If he has done so he will no longer be an SLPP member,” Kariyawasam said.

If Rajapakshe lost his SLPP membership, he would automatically lose his seat in Parliament and thereby the Cabinet position, party sources said.
