Election was based on vengeful politics: Chandrasiri Sooriyaarachchi

- newsfirst.lk

Convening a media briefing in Polonnaruwa on Thursday August 27, former deputy minister Chandrasiri Sooriyaarachchi stated that the recently concluded election was based on vengeful politics. He stated that the former president Mahinda Rajapaksa should be held responsible for it.

Sooriyaarachchi further stated that the people, dividing themselves as the Mahinda faction and the Maithri faction, spread word requesting not to vote for Sooriyaarachchi and Susantha Gnanaratne.

Speaking on the issue, Susantha Gnanaratne stated that the election could have been won by himself and Sooryaarachchi easily but it was the actions of some candidates and the former president which made that victory slip away and swerve to the UNP.
