Sri Lanka’s August deflation unchanged at 0.2-pct
Aug 31, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka has reported a deflation in August 2015 of 0.2 percent for the second consecutive month after March 1995, statistics department said.
Year on year inflation of Food Group has decreased from 2.5 percent in July 2015 to 2.2 percent in
August 2015 while Non‐food Group increased by ‐2.5 percent to ‐2.3 percent during this period.
The CCPI for all items for the month of August 2015 was 181.9 a decrease of 0.9 index point or a
percentage of 0.52 was noted in August 2015 compared to July 2015.
The index point decreased by 0.52 percent and this was due to the decrease of food items by 0.71 percent and increase of nonfood items by 0.19 percent respectively, statistics department said.
The moving average inflation rate for the month of August 2015 is 1.0 percent and the corresponding rate for the month of July 2015 was 1.3 percent.
