Gotabhaya Rajapaksa among those summoned before Presidential Commission again
A group including former defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa were summoned before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Serious Acts of Fraud and Corruption on Friday again.
They were summoned to obtain statements with regard to the deployment of Rakna Lanka employees for election campaign during the last presidential election.
Former defense secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Duminda Silva, Kotte mayor Janaka Ranawaha and Western Provincial councillor Upali Kodikara were summoned before the commission on Friday.
JVP Uva Provincial Councillor Samantha Widhyaranate arrived at the FCID today to present evidence with regard to a complaint lodged against Uva Provincial councilor Anura Widhanagamage, citing his involvement in fraud.
Meanwhile, the General secretary of the Lanka Teacher services Union, Mahinda Jayasinghe arrived at the FCID to give a statement with regard to an alleged misappropriation when calling for tenders for the building of laboratories under the Mahindadoya programme, by former minister of education Bandula Gunawardena.
