ITN glitters at Signis Awards Nite
The Independent Television Network glitters at the Annual Signis Awards Nite. ITN has been honoured with many Awards.
The Signis Salutation Awards ceremony for 2008 and 2009 was organized at the BMICH on a grand note yesterday. “Karuwalagedara” telecast by ITN won the Gold Award for the best teledrama in 2008. Sudath Rohana won the Award for the Best Director also for the same teledrama. Chandani Seneviratne won the Best Actress Gold Award for her contribution to “Karuwalagedara.” A notable feature was he bagging of the best actors Award by Janak Premalal for his role in “Karuwalagedara.”Tissa Abeysekara won the Best Scriptwriter’s Award for “Karuwalagedara” while the best camera Direction, song and editing Awards were also won by the same teledrama. It also bagged two more Awards. Chathurika Peris and Prageeth Ratnayake won Merit Awards for their roles in this teledrama.
The “Arungal” teledrama telecast by ITN bagged the most number of Awards for the year 2009. Chandani Seneviratne won the Gold Awards for her lead role in this teledrama and becoming the Best Actress for both years. Jayalath Manoratne won the best actor’s Award for this teledrama. Among the others awards won by this teledrama were for singing, music direction and the best make up artiste. Mowli Ferdinandus won a merit Award for the role in this particular teledrama.
Well known as OCIC, the festival was organized by Signis. The Chief Guest was veteran cinema artiste D.B. Nihalsinghe. The event was arranged under the guidance of Rev. Fathers Benedict Joseph and Earnest Porutota. ITN is proud to announce that it had bagged a majority of the Awards at all Awards Festivals organized for this year including Sumathi and Raigam. It was on Thursday, that ITN was honoured with the Business Excellence Awards for its media contribution.
