Govt.: CEPA Yet To Be Decided On
The government says that a final decision on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Sri Lanka and India will be made after the conclusion of ongoing discussions with stake holders.
Industry and Commerce Minister Rishad Bathiudeen told parliament that discussions and negotiations on CEPA were currently on going.
He noted that the CEPA agreement is aimed at improving bilateral trade between India and Sri Lanka.<
The CEPA agreement is expected to be an extension of the existing Indo-Lanka Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
According to Bathiudeen, 16 rounds of discussions have been held with India since 2008 on the economic mismatch between the two countries.
