SLTB and Private Sector join to strengthen transport service

- itnnews.lk

The private sector and the SLTB join hands to further strengthen the public transport service. Minister Kumara Welgama has emphasized that he will not permit the transport service to paralyse in the face of any influence.

The Minister said that he will not halt the process of making new buses. He will bring new buses and introduce to routes. The President has given the nod to prepare time schedules. He pointed out that he would be requesting the private transport Minister to set aside 60 percent for private buses, while 40 percent would be for SLTB buses. If this is done, the Minister said that they would be able to properly operate the state transport service. However, he emphasized that no one could stop the number of SLTB buses being increased. He added that the people expect from him as Transport Minister, an efficient bus as well as a train service.
