Is Govt. scared of Avant Garde?

The JVP has decided to continue raising the Avant Garde issue in Parliament until the government comes out with an answer. The Leader of the JVP raised the issue in Parliament under standing orders 23/2on the 22nd September.

Mr. Anura Dissanayaka asked the government why it has failed to carry out another investigation regarding Avant Garde. He said there were many firearms with Avant Garde and there would have been illegal weapons among them. Mr. Dissanayaka said Attorney General’s statement that there was no acceptable evidence against Avant Garde is not acceptable. He said those who received gifts and donations from Avant Garde should be investigated adding that the audit report of the company states large sums of money was given as gifts and donations.

The Leader of the House Minister Lakshman Kiriella said the questions would be answered but it is stated that the issue would be raised again on the 6th in Parliament.
