When journalists raised questions at the media briefing held to announce the cabinet decision on the Geneva Resolution, Co-Cabinet Spokesman, Minister Rajitha Senaratne, stated that the probe is not an international probe as requested during the tenure of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, but a probe under the Sri Lankan judicial mechanism.
He stated that the international involvement will be in a form of an investigation or even technical support.
The Co-Cabinet Spokesperson added that according to the 20th section, only assistance will be provided following discussions with the Sri Lankan Government and will only commence extending their adversarial and technological supports after the state has approved consent.
Furthermore, journalists also asked questions on the Prime Minister’s tour of Japan, prompting an interesting conversation.
