Lodging houses for tourists
The concept of providing lodging houses for tourists is being launched to facilitate tourists.
Deputy Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said that this programme would be instrumental in providing the economic benefits to the people. He said that the aim of the government is to make tourism a people’s industry. The number of rooms available for tourists will be increased not only by constructing star class hotels. He said that by providing lodging houses, the income is distributed amongst everyone and it becomes a people’s industry. He observed that it will improve economy of the owners of houses as well as of others in the area. The Tourism Sector has shown steady development after the establishment of peace. The Deputy Minister expressed these views addressing the owners of houses who wish to provide facilities to tourists. Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Dr. Nalaka Godahewa was amongst those who participated in the occasion.
