Large crowds gathered at the Jaffna Municipal Grounds which turned-out to be a business centre with Jaffna International Trade Fair 2011 opening on Friday. Brightening-up the atmosphere in Northern peninsula “JITF 2011” continues its daily activities offering local & international business opportunities, education and entertainment not only to the people of Jaffna, but also the entire province, covering Mannar, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya  and Mullaitivu districts.
Credit goes to a massive promotional campaign that even included a mobile musical unit supported with banners, pennants & distribution of brochures, made much publicity of the event, creating awareness among the public. This is a multi-product show displaying a wide range of products and services from Agriculture, Education, Construction, Automobile, Research & Development, Processed Food, Information & Communication Technology and Apparel.
On the opening day, Tissa Jayaweera, President, Federation of Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Sri Lanka (FCCISL) said that the Sri Lankan Chamber looks to unite and strengthen the interrelationship between people through business and business has no barriers or borders. Working in-line with that word of encouragement JITF 2011 has produced results with major Indian participation as well as Malaysian, Indonesian any many global business delegates visiting the fair in Jaffna.
The large gathering of the Indian business community was a significant factor with a separate pavilion for National Small Industries Corporation of India and the Kerala business community together with involvement by the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka and India coming onboard for the event as the partner country for  “JITF 2011.” Expressing his views on behalf ofIndian representation, India Exhibition & Conference Services Pvt. Ltd. director Joseph Kuriacose briefed journalists.
According to him, JITF 2011 is a great opening for Indian business that competes in a global market and even has the opening, particularly in Jaffna, to compete with local businesses. More than 50 different companies showcased their products in this year’s exhibition compared to the two that represented the 2010 fair. Most of them are experiencing Jaffna for the time and are looking for their own local representative or agent in future operations. With record number of Indian participants for JITF 2011, more state governments such as Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have already planned for the next year’s exhibition.
Organizers behind “JITF 2011,” Lanka Exhibition & Conference services (LESC), a Presidential award winning company, co-organized by FCCISL in association with the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yarlpanam supported by the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, built on bare land to suit an international trade exhibition, providing various entertainment facilities for people, educating & guiding with business sessions and seminars. The organizing team successfully staged a great show in Jaffna, the northern peninsula of Sri Lanka.
