Mangala Denies Dullas’ Accusation
UNP parliamentarian Mangala Samaraweera has rejected a claim made by a government minister that Samaraweera owed monies to the state owned electronic media institutions.
Youth Affairs Minister Dullas Alahapperuma told the media that Samaraweera owed a large sum of money to the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).
Samaraweera told a press conference that the amounts Alahapperuma was referring to were dues that were to be paid to SLRC for President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s presidential election campaign in 2005. Samaraweera was Rajapaksa’s campaign manager at the 2005 presidential election.
He has said that while Rajapaksa was campaigning for the presidency, Alahapperuma at the time was holding discussions with the UNP to cross over.
Samaraweera has also added that President Mahinda Rajapaksa was misleading the public with his false promises.
