Appointment of Sathosa official found guilty of fraud raise eyebrows
The Presidential Commission appointed to investigate into large scale corruption and fraud have drawn their attention towards the appointment of a top official at Sathosa, who has been proven guilty of financial fraud, as an official at the Ministry of Trade and Commerce.
When News1st inquired into this move, Secretary of the Presidential Commission, Lacille De Silva confirmed this situation, adding that five top officials at Sathosa had previously been accused of financial fraud.
He stated that they were proven guilty of those allegations upon further investigation.
Accordingly, the Presidential Commission added that while four of the officials were removed from their posts, the other was appointed as a senior advisor at the Ministry of Trade and Commerce.
Secratary, Lacille De Silva said that steps are being taken to carry out further investigations in this regard.
