HashanTillakaratne says he will take match-fixing allegations to ICC

Former Sri Lanka test captain HashanTillakaratne says he will tell the International Cricket Council that matches were fixed during his career.

Fronting the media for the first time since breaking the allegations on TV, Tillakaratne said due to legal advice and threats he would expose those connected to match fixing at a later date. “There are attempts to silence me, but because I love Sri Lanka cricket I will go ahead and reveal the names involved in match fixing”, the former cricketer said.
Tillakaratne said that he would besubmitting evidence to the International Cricket Council. When quizzed as to why it has taken him so long to report the incidents he replied “for my security”.

The former Sri Lanka Test cricket captain further points out several matters that have caused controversy in recent times.

1. The squad for the ICC World Cup was name done day prior to the auction of the IPL tournament. At that point the semi-finals and final of the Inter-Provincial Tournament in Sri Lanka weren’t over.

2. There have been allegations in recent times that in selecting players to the national squad some officials have received bribes and they continue to hold responsible positions in the cricket administration.

3. Those with direct contacts with the betting industry and those with family contacts in the betting industry have been given top positions in the cricket administration.

4. A top official against whom there have been allegations in awarding country’s cricket television rights is occupying a top position in the current administration.

5. The administrators and politicians of the country having close links with with an individual who has been charged with several wrongdoings in India.
