Govt. To Release Tourism Development Plan
The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has said the government would this week release a five year development plan for the country’s tourism sector.
The Tourism Development Plan is to cover the period between 2011 and 2016.
Chairman of the SLTDA, Dr. Nalaka Godahewa has said the plan would include a collection of ideas from industry stakeholders, academics and from various interest parties.
According to Dr. Godahewa, the plan has been drafted after a lengthy analysis and collective agreement.
He has said the government wanted the industry to be aggressive and look at the potential, opportunities, be innovative and capture the opportunities before the country.
The tourism industry has set a target of 2.5 million tourist arrivals by 2016.
