Tender process for Western Megapolis to begin in June
A forum conducted by the Institute of Engineering and Technology to create awareness about the Western Region Megapolis Planning project was held in Colombo on Monday February 8.
The forum was centered on ways to find solutions to issues such as garbage, housing for shanty dwellers and traffic plans to avoid vehicular congestion
Project Director for the Western Region Megapolis Planning Project, Lakshman Jayasekara stated that 140 projects will be coming out in “batches”. The first round of tenders will be in June this year, with 30 – 40 projects.
He said that funding was being looked into from the get-go and that “our intention was to see that no plan is viable, implementable, unless it has all the funding required”.
