In the era gone by, a water bottle did not pour forth exciting news. Then came Nishantha Delgoda, with SPEED and its advancement came speedily too.
Managing Director and Owner of SPEED Water Systems Nishantha Delgoda is an enigma. He forged ahead with SPEED which began to branch out both in terms of quality and quantity.
First he obtained SLS standardization and then he sent pure bottled water to places as far and as varied as Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Matara and Balapokuna Road. SPEED Water Shops began to spring up in all parts of the country.
The water is pure, the water is sought after and the water is trusted
Then came WATER FOR KIDS, an exciting new concept which was unique. Parents often worry about the kind of water their children drink. Nishantha Delgoda and his team at SPEED allayed all fears. SPEED’s Water for Kids broke new ground.
A home and office delivery service made SPEED complete in this modern day and age.
All this was enough to put Nishantha Delgoda at the top of the spring water business in Sri Lanka.
As if all this was not enough, SPEED Water Systems last week, launched their new marketing concept of “Neighbourhood SPEED”, taking another new step in the bottled water industry of Sri Lanka.
“The Neighbourhood SPEED concept was introduced in accordance with my vision – making water more available and affordable to all,” said Delgoda speaking to The Sunday Leader.
“SPEED is now becoming the number one household brand in Sri Lanka with 25 Franchise water shops and over 25 distributors and area distributors for water distribution,” he said.
He went on to say that SPEED has been the first to launch the water shop concept in Sri Lanka and many other innovative products such as oxygenated water, Kids’ water and SPEED ice. All these have been introduced to the market as a result of SPEED’s never-resting attitude towards developing innovative products and services for the water industry in Sri Lanka.
Working through many media channels, newspapers and advertisements and working with village headmen, temples and churches, etc., SPEED approached hundreds of ordinary people who were interested and gathered them together in order to appoint Franchise neighborhood units making water more available and affordable to all.
“SPEED has a concept involving laymen to market our products through franchise distribution,” said Delgoda
At a launch held in Kirulapone, Delgoda and his consultants speaking to a gathering of people from Colombo, Matara, Anuradhapura, Galle, and Ratnapura, explained how SPEED franchise units will be established on every street – converting garages of affluent people in the city and homes in villages.
Every franchisee is promised a 30% return on investment and for the operation. SPEED with its motto of making water more affordable and available to all is assuring the same price of Rs 165 per bottle across the country.
SPEED is an ISO 9001, 2000 certified company which assures health safety, while its ISO 22000 (HACCP) confirms customers’ health safety through a food safety management system obtained from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI). SPEED is also confirmed under SLSI 894 and registered and approved by the Health ministry and is constantly monitored by the “International Water Association” and “Indian Water Works”.
SPEED was incorporated in 2003 and is the brain child of its owner and Managing Director Nishantha Delgoda with professional and technical guidance from its sister concern SRITRIMS (Far East) Ltd., in Hong Kong. SRITRIMS is one of the leading brands in the apparel industry in Hong Kong with a manufacturing unit in China catering to buyers in Indonesia, Bangladesh, Turkey, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, India and Pakistan. SRITRIMS (Far East) Ltd., which is owned by Delgoda caters to over 25 countries and to the leading apparel brands supplying quality products supported by Oeko-tex Standard 100 confirming that its goods are free of harmful substances.
Delgoda spoke about the expansion of ISO 14000 for Environment-friendly product certification and future plans for waste management systems with respect to the bottled water industry as well as other industries and also contributing to the environment of Sri Lanka, which he feels is the next generation in business.
