Marine National Park In Hikka
A 101 hectare Marine National Park has been opened by the government in the Southern coastal town of Hikkaduwa.
The Park that has been initiated by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau under the guidance of the Economic Development Ministry, is open for local and foreign visitors.
The Bureau has stated that the existing Hikkaduwa National Park had been remodeled to provide a safe recreational experience at affordable prices.
The Marine National Park includes snorkeling, diving and bathing zones and offers a diverse collection of sea creatures and beautiful fringing reefs of various corals.
The Park is expected to cater to the needs of both local and foreign adventure seekers.
The media has reported that the entrance fee for a local tourist will be Rs. 5 and Rs.30 for a foreign visitor. The fare of a boat tour for a local tourist would be Rs.750 and Rs.1,750 for a foreigner.
