Responsibility of media personnel is to promote reconciliation says Minister

The Media Minister has said that the media personnel belong to the most powerful generation that can create reconciliation amongst communities.

Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that the media personnel should understand their responsibility in removing distrust from peoples’ minds. He said that it is the generation of media personnel who can heal wounds and remove the pain from people’s hearts. Minister Keheliya Rambukwella expressed these views while addressing the ‘Asi-Disi’ workshop for the media personnel in the North. The workshop was held at the Kokawil transmission centre in Kilinochchi. Regional media persons representing Vavuniya, Mannar, Mulativu, Kilinochhci and Jaffna districts also participated in the workshop. The Minister presented voice recorders and certificates to media persons who have undergone training. The workshop was organized by the Media Ministry. Secretary to the Ministry W.B. Ganegala, Government Information Director Wasanthapriya Ramanayake and Chairman of Rupavahini Corporation Mohan Samaranayake also participated in the occasion.
