Veteran banker P.V. Pathirana joins CIFL

Central Investments and Finance, after ensuring a successful IPO recently, shows signs of strategic focus and confidence in their core business area of micro finance.

Ex-General Manager and CEO of People’s Bank P.V. Pathirana joined the company as an Independent Non-Executive Director to further strengthen this strategic focus in micro finance.
Speaking on his vision for the company as a director, Pathirana said, “Coming from the grass root level of the banking industry, I think it is important for  finance companies to align their Micro Finance initiatives with the actual needs of the MSME (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises ) sector eradication of poverty providing financial and non-financial services and it must be channelled together with the government directives to contribute to economic development taking the sector in to greater heights.”
Pathirana is a well experienced banker counting over 39 years of experience in People’s Bank holding posts from Branch Manager to the Chief Executive Officer specialising in micro finance and development banking. He is B.Sc. Graduate in Business Administration and a Fellow of Member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (FIBSL).
Pathirana  serves in several  Board of Directors including the Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka, Agricultural and Agrian Insurance Board, Institute of Bankers, Lanka Financial Services Bureau and People’s Travel (Pvt) Limited.
 He has wide array of training and exposure both locally and internationally including in Germany, USA, UK, Indonesia, Japan, Pakistan and India.
“My aim is to further entrench the values of good governance, ethics and professionalism, in order to ensure that CIFL as a growing finance company  serving the micro finance clientele, provides an excellent service in the most caring and responsive manner possible.”
