Galadari dazzles at ‘Culinary Art 2011’

After months of anticipation, careful planning and stiff competition, amongst the finest of chefs in the hotel industry, the Galadari Hotel walked away with 23 medals at the recently concluded ‘Culinary Art 2011’ competition organised by the Chef’s Guild of Lanka.

Identified as one Sri Lanka’s premier food and hotel shows, the Culinary Art Competition highlights talent and creativity of local chefs regarding it as a prestigious event aimed at developing culinary art in Sri Lanka.
With a total of 30 chefs taking part in this year’s competition the Galadari Hotel is proud to have bagged 23 medals in various categories including Beverage Challenge Mocktail, Beverage Challenge Cocktail and Cargills Snack – High tea menu competitions.
Shashike Sooriyabandara won the Gold medal for Beverage Challenge Mocktail/Class 20 Competition in which he blended his two winning Mocktails “Guawa Fiesta” and “Red lips”.Winning the competition for his originality, innovation and technique, Shashike states that some of the secret ingredients that shaped the Mocktail were personally sourced from Kandy his home town.
Winning the Gold in the Beverage Challenge Cockatil/ Class 21 Competition, Kanishka Wijerathne shook up an Arrack Cocktail that combined a clever fusion of pineapple juice, Soursoup juice, Grenadine syrup and Arrack to bring out an exceptionally novel Cocktail named “A Ray of Hope”.
Asanka Sanjeewa bagged the All Island Gold Medal for “Cargills Snack- High tea menu” category as he put forth a stunning performance in creating delicate hot and cold canapés and a refreshingly delightful dessert fit for the refined high tea experience.
Competing against several exceptionally talented chefs throughout the Island Asanka Sanjeewa managed to out shine the rest with his cleverly measured precision and a keen and finely-tuned sense of taste.
Creating an impression at the Culinary Art Competition 2011 the Golden boys of Galadari states that the contest was a test of creativity, novelty, skill and talent that took months of careful preparation. With 23 medals on bored, the Galadari stands high with a workforce of skilled chefs who work with a shared passion to perfect every culinary specialty.
The entire team’s extraordinary dedication, tireless efforts, and support towards each other have indeed played a significant role in clutching a number of medals at this year’s competition.
