People’s Bank Sports Festival won by Southern Zone

The People’s Bank Sports Club organised sports festivals gathering all People’s Bank branches, regions and zonal head office to coincide with the 50th anniversary commemoration of the People’s Bank.
The Sabaragamuwa and Southern Zone Sports Festival was held at Ratnapura Seevalee Grounds on 30 and 31 July.

More than 1,500 members from Sabaragamuwa and Southern Zone including Ratnapura, Kegalle, Galle, Matara and Hambantota Regional Office staff members participated.

Cricket, volleyball, football and netball were the main sports items and track events and       tug-of-war in the zonal and there were fun items for kids too. Volleyball matches were held under lights in the night.
The special guest for the opening ceremony was Prof. D.J.D. Jayakody, Member of the People’s Bank Board of Directors and the Chief Guest was K.U. Pushpakumara, Acting Chief Executive Officer/General Manager of the People’s Bank.
The championship was won by the Southern zone and volleyball and the netball champions were Sabaragamuwa. Southern zone was the champions for football and cricket.  The trophy for the champions was given by the member of the People’s Bank Board of Directors  Prof. D.J.D. Jayakody, followed by K.U. Pushpakumara ( Acting CEO/GM), R. Ranathunga (AGM – Southern Zone), Palitha Wijesundara  (AGM  – Sabaragamuwa) and regional managers and assistant regional managers from Galle, Matara and Hambantota
