JSS: EPF And ETF Monies Used To Buy Buses
The UNP affiliated Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya (JSS) has accused the Transport Ministry of trying to use billions of rupees of the SLTB employees’ EPF and ETF funds to purchase new buses.
The JSS says the Ministry is trying to spend Rs 1.9 billion from EPF and ETF funds to purchase 500 new buses.
Head of the JSS and UNP parliamentarian Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena has said the Ministry did not have the right to use the employees’ monies in such a manner.
He has said that although new buses needed to be purchased, it should not be done with employees’ funds but with Treasury funds.
According to Dr. Jayawardena, the Transport Ministry’s attempt to purchase news buses from EPF and ETF funds a violation of the rules set by SLTB on investing EPF monies.
