Multi-Million Dollar Affair Behind Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s Downfall!

French newspapers, DSK with Sarkozy and DSK with Barack and Michelle Obama

Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies.” — Julius Henry, Groucho Marx, American comedian and film star (1890-1977).
When life is smooth and everything goes in the right direction, normal civilians can become President, Prime Minister or other powerful leaders. For some reason, when politics work in the wrong direction, enemies are created, some of whom have become high profile killers. There are politicians who have ended up in prisons, losing their prestige. In this modern era, “anything can happen”. There are countries where so-called terrorist leaders have later become Heads-of-State and honored by the very same people who earlier branded them as terrorist. Those who do not become a head of state are appreciated by many well recognised VIPs.
Last May, the French people received unexpected news that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) President Dominique Strauss-Khan, known as DSK had been arrested in New York accused of sexual charges. DSK had been preparing himself to stand for the forthcoming Presidential elections in France and had been tipped to replace President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Some believe that the DSK affair was an organised plot to prevent him from standing in next year’s Presidential election in France. Some were furious about his arrest and the treatment he received in New York.
DSK was a former Finance Minister of France and one of the senior members of the French Socialist Party. News of the arrest of DSK spread like wildfire to every nook and corner of the globe.
All the most popular TVs, radios, newspapers and electronic media covered the DSK story as their lead news. Much analysis was done about how it happened and what sort of punishment DSK may have to face if he lost the case etc. The million viewers busy watching CNN, BBC, Al-Jazeera and other media to hear more about the DSK affair in New York, missed watching the analysis telecasted on the Russian (English) TV (RT.com) on May 26. What was it about?
The Russian English language TV, like other popular media, has regular hourly news and comment on socio-economical, political and cultural affairs of the world. Analyses on Russian TV are not the same as on other popular TV-stations in Europe and other Western countries. The researchers and analysts are totally different personalities and express completely different views to the western media.
Many sex scandals of
politicians
Soon after the arrest of DSK,  Russian TV featured a commentator from Buenos Aires, Argentina. This popular researcher and economist of geopolitics, Adrian Salbuchi has ideas and views which resonate for people of neutral views.
His remarks about DSK’s affair in New York shocked those viewers. Without any hesitation, Salbuchi said that DSK’s New York matter is a “multi-million dollar affair”! Salbuchi’s very first point is that there have been many sex scandals of politicians around the world.  Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was also trapped in a sex-scandal, so why is DSK case something special? This writer does not support any human rights violations including violence against women and rape. Rape is recognised as a crime. But any fictions to gain political mileage cannot be accepted. In December 2010, an Israeli court convicted Moshe Katsav the former president of Israel, for raping a woman while still in office. The present President of South Africa Jacob Zuma a popular political figure of the African National Congress-ANC was put on trial in 2005 for having raped a young AIDS activist. Mr. Zuma was acquitted and became the President of South Africa. The former President of USA, Bill Clinton and many others are good examples of sexual scandals of politicians.
According to Salbuchi, under the Presidency of DSK, the IMF was waiting to introduce a “Special Drawing System” a system which would pave the way for the IMF to give importance to the Euro and BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) currencies. This could overshadow the US Dollar as global currency.
When Salbuchi speaks about the Euro, he says that it is “culturally” a weak currency and at the same time technically it is a global currency.
Salbuchi, in his analysis, cites Sadam Hussain of Iraq as a good example of the ultimate result, if someone tries to weaken the US Dollar. Salbuchi says that in November 2002, the Iraq President Sadam Hussain introduced the Food for Oil project in Euros and that brought a virtual end to Sadam and his regime. Salbuchi states that Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s resignation from the IMF is a big loss for the weak Euro currency states – Spain, Italy, Portugal, Ireland and Greece. Furthermore, he said that if DSK had continued to be the President of IMF, it would have brought to an end to the printing of US dollars all 24 hours.
French reaction
In France the arrest of DSK has increased public sympathy for him. An opinion poll showed 57 per cent of French people believe he was the “victim of a plot”. The first and so far only woman Prime Minister of France Edith Cresson (from May 1991 until April 1992), told the media that French people were really shocked the way DSK was treated in New York and that it was beyond limits.
Paris-based journalist Anne-Elisabeth Moutet said to CBS News on May 17, “But more generally, there’s a sort of unpleasant attitude right now in France where people are becoming  (when everything else fails) anti-American. And so they say American justice is all about show trials, it’s about attorneys, and official judges and magistrates perpetually campaigning for re-election. It’s about humiliating someone. The system is unusually cruel. Anything, you know, any kind of explanation is now suddenly given for the fact that he was – Shock! Horror! – treated like any other normal person suspected of a crime.”

The Observer May 22 said the following: “For the world, it was shocking enough; for much of Paris, it was insupportable – especially after pictures emerged of Strauss-Kahn, unshaven and forlorn, handcuffed in court.
In the hours and days that followed the arrest, a string of friends and Socialist allies stepped forward to defend a man they insisted could not have done such a thing. Jean-François Kahn, a well-known journalist, said he was “practically certain” that what had taken place had not been an attempted rape, but imprudence… the skirt-lifting of a domestic”. Jack Lang, a former Socialist culture minister, wondered why, when “no man had died”, Strauss-Kahn had not been released on bail immediately. Philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy, meanwhile, raged against a legal system that had treated DSK like “any other person”. “Everybody,” declared the philosopher, “is not everybody!”

However, a coin has two sides and each side has a different image. Human beings have their weaknesses. When a plot is the choice, the artful dodgers use the weaknesses of a particular individual. Blackmailing becomes a part of it. When this fails, they go a step further. Here the gender issue plays a crucial role.
