AVIVA NDB Higher Education Scholarship is now higher!

AVIVA NDB Insurance grants a higher education scholarship to each and every student who tops the batch in all 25 districts in the island and has just increased the monthly bursary significantly from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,500 in keeping with today’s cost of living.
The students start receiving the scholarship when they enter Advanced Level until they complete their university education – each receiving up to Rs. 210,000 depending on the chosen degree.

Year 5 high-flyers of 2003 who entered Advanced Level classes in 2010 will be the first batch to benefit from this increase.
In addition to the increase of the monthly stipend, the company also enhanced the life-starter granted to the Year 5 scholars who do not enter university.  The lump-sum of Rs. 25,000 was increased to Rs. 50,000.  In addition, Year 5 tie winners who get a lower aggregate at GCE ‘O’ Level and do not ultimately qualify to receive the monthly scholarship will now receive a lump sum of Rs. 40,000.
The number of scholarships offered has grown to 400. The fund of Rs.10 million set aside for this purpose when the scholarship scheme was launched in 1994 has now grown five-fold through prudent investment.
“The AVIVA NDB Higher Education Scholarship is unique because we unconditionally recognise academic excellence on merit alone,” said Amal Perera, General Manager – Marketing & Customer Management.
The Year 5 top achievers of 2004 have entered Advanced Level this year and will be presented with the initial bursary at the AVIVA NDB Higher Education Scholarship Awards Ceremony to be held shortly.
