Ministry of Sports and the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have initiated measures to formulate a development plant for the sport targeting the Cricket World Cup 2015.
Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket Interim Committee Upali Dharmadasa and other officials of SLC have held a meeting with the Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage at the Ministry recently to discuss the plans, the national news agency Lankapuwath reported.

At the meeting the Minister has said that a special training program for batting, bowling and fielding will be introduced to improve the talents of the cricketers and the performance of the 92 contracted players will be monitored regularly to make improvements.

The Ministry will take measures to implement a special programme to develop school cricket at the district level, Aluthgamage has said.
Also measures will be taken to identify all shortcomings of the players in the Under 19 team and the Sri Lanka ‘A’ team and necessary technical training will be given to them, the Minister has informed.
Sri Lanka Cricket will also assign specific roles to over 54 coaches of the organization.
Aluthgamage has also assured to build stadiums in the provinces to fit proper standards, develop the grounds, and provide necessary facilities to uncover and promote the talent of Sri Lankan cricketers.
The Minister emphasized the need for the Selection Committee, coaches and the team’s captaincy to work together towards a common goal for the wellbeing of Sri Lanka Cricket.
Aluthgamage asserted that Sri Lanka can win the World Cup in 2015 if the cricket body follows a proper plan in the next four years.
