COPE Preparing Report
The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) is currently preparing a report on the findings of state institutions that have been probed by the committee.
COPE Chairman and Minister D.E.W. Gunasekera has told parliament today that the report would be presented to the House before the presentation of the 2012 budget proposals.
He has said that out of the 227 institutions that are to be probed by COPE, the Committee has already inquired into 185.
A previous COPE report prepared in 2007 under the chairmanship of parliamentarian Wijedasa Rajapakse identified corruption in many government institutions and recommendations were also made by the Committee on addressing the issue.
