Celebrated cinematographer D.B. Nihalsinghe goes on final journey
A pioneer in Sinhala cinema,D.B. Nihalsinghe, who had already retired from the film industry passed away on Friday.
The Cinematographer added a realistic style to the Sri Lankan cinema. He burst into the cinema industry through the dramatic film Welikathara which is counted among the top 10 films in the country.
As the first General Manager of the Film Corporation, many decisions taken by him helped in building a golden era in the Sri Lankan cinema industry. He introduced tele-art through Dimuthumuthu and the art of TV ads through Tele Cine Institute while he was the creator of many new experiences.
The Funeral of this great Cinematographer was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Borella cemetery.
Media Minister Gayantha Karunathilake presented the eulogies issued by the president and the prime minister.
