Krishnapillai Kalainesan was rehabilitated at the Welikanda Rehabilitation Centre. He was released in 2013.
A journalist questioned Defence Secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi on the matter, asking if the arrest indirectly means the LTTE has been reincarnated.
In his reply, the Secretary denied the claim saying that it is a lie and a rumour, noting that individuals are arrested for various reasons.
When the journalist questioned if the situation, “even indirectly, is a threat to national security”, the Secretary stated that it is useless to comment on the matter at the moment.
