One does not know “the motives” of Commonwealth leaders, the majority of whom preferred not to establish a Commonwealth Human Rights Commission, beginning this current session of Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM) in Perth, Australia, said Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard in answer to a question by this writer yesterday.
This was in response to the pointed question, “Did the majority of Commonwealth leaders opt against establishing a human rights commission right away, because they perceived it as being motivated by a witch-hunt by some countries against Sri Lanka on the human rights score?”
