Sri Lanka appoints new DG to head the country’s Petroleum Exploration Secretariat
Sri Lanka has appointed Saliya Wickramasuriya as the new Director General of the Country’s Petroleum Resources Development Secretariat with effect from 4th of November.
President’s Office confirmed the appointment.
Wickramasuriya who was once the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority is being appointed for a period of 3 years.
Before him, Dr. Neil De Silva functioned as the Director General of the Petroleum Resources Development Secretariat.
Cairn Lanka is currently in the process of exploring oil in the Gulf of Mannar basin and has already discovered the existence of Gas in two wells.
