A pageant with a difference takes to the stage

The Sapphire Ballroom, Ceylon Continental Hotel hosted a night of glamour and personality on 10 November when The Personalities of the New Generation took centre stage, organised by the Image Academy of Personality Development.

Image Academy of Personality Development dedicated 32 sessions of training in the last three months to groom 28 young guys and girls to develop their personalities to bring out the best in them.  

The training included personal grooming, image building, social and business etiquette etc. These young contestants enhanced their inner and outer strengths proving the end product to be a different and successful event.
The show started after the cocktails, with a glamorous Hair Show presented by Salon Nayana. The unique 2012 fantasy styles took the audience’s breath away.
Main pageant consisted of three categories: Casual Wear section was sponsored by L.I.C.C jeans Co. (Pvt) Ltd. Comtextile (HK) Ltd. The models walked the ramp in white t-shirts paired up with casual and stylish jeans in shades of blue, specially designed by CEO Rajive Samarasinghe, and his team.
Corporate Wear and Evening Wear were specially designed for this pageant by Aslam Hussein, Chairman and Owner of Aslam Hussein GeeBees Designer Studio. The personal attention given by Aslam added glamour to the show.
The jewellery collection for the entire show was specially designed by Stone and String.
The hair and makeup for all contestants were done by the very talented and capable staff of Salon Nayana.
Amidst the glitz, glamour and elegance the contestants daunted the audience with their enhanced confidence and sophistication.
It was a strong competition but with the expertise of the distinguished panel of judges, Personalities of the New Generation thrived till the end. Sangeetha Weerarathne, Daniela Munasinghe, Kushani Gankanda, Geraldine Bandaranaike, Lou Ching Wong, Asim Younoos and Thushara Perera had a tough decision in their hands.
The mini titles awarded for the night were as follows. Image Miss Personality – Ramasha Galappathy and Image Mr. Personality–Manoj Rohana, Image Miss Body Beautiful – Iresha Asanki and Image Mr. Physique – Ireshan Perera, Oriflame Miss Beautiful Face– Thaksala Kumari andOriflame Mr. Handsome – Pubudu Maalinda, Veet Miss Smooth Skin – Dilini Anuruddhika and Veet Mr. Smooth Skin – Buddhika Melvyn, Veet Miss Beautiful Legs– Nimesha Udani andVeet Mr. Six Pack – Wazeem Cammar, Image Miss Photogenic – Indunil Nugawela and Image Mr. Photogenic – Shihan Vinod, Renew Miss Colour Me Beautiful – Ganeshi Mudalige and Renew Mr. Colour Me Cool – Chanaka Prasad, Dove Miss Healthy Hair – G.V.R Samanmali and Dove Mr. Healthy Hair – Raitha Gajanayaka, Continental Queen–Asanki De Silva  and Continental King– Pubudu Malinda, Stone and String Miss Fashion – Shasha Senanayake and Stone and String  Mr. Fashion – Nimesh Perera, Miss. Geebees Designer Look – Ramasha Galappatthy and Mr. Geebees Designer Look -  Wazeem Cammar.
The evening came to an end with three young ladies and three young gentlemen being announced winners with equal status living up to the expectation of a pageant with a difference.
The six winners of the night were Indunil Nugawela, Nimesha Udani, Asanki De Silva, Amila Chathuranga, Ireshan Perera and. Wazeem Cammar.
Image Academy of Personality Development has already started to plan Personalities of the New Generation for 2012.
Image Academy of Personality Development Managing Director Nayana Karunaratne said, “We plan to improve the show next year by selecting and inviting the contestants from different fields and professions. As the Personalities of the New Generation, we will concentrate on the young students, university graduates and trainee employees of companies and representatives of the other different skills to participate.  This is not a beauty contest, but we will look for those who take care of their bodies and show interest in style and fashion. We sincerely want this event to be the platform for participants to reach higher goals, such as international contests, high corporate positions with supreme confidence.”
