Govt.’s debt repayment for next years is Rs. 914Bn - Harsha
Srilankamirror - UNP parliamentarian Dr. Harsha de Silva says the government’s debt repayment for 2012 is estimated at Rs. 914 billion.
Dr. de Silva said the capital repayment of loans stands at Rs. 600 billion and Rs. 314 billion for loan installments and loan interests.
He pointed out that the repayment of loans taken by the government would be allocated the major part of budgetary allocations for 2012.
He added that the Defence Ministry that has been allocated Rs. 225 billion is not the highest allocation in next year’s budget.
“After paying back the loan, the country would not have any money left. All the monies collected as revenue through taxes would be used to repay loans,” Dr. de Silva noted.
