Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB) recently announced that they will be organising Construction Expo 2012 (CE2012) in Sri Lanka on 29 June to 1 July, 2012.

An international exhibition, this event is will be one of the largest construction related events to be held in the region.
It would bring together professionals and organisations in the building and construction industry from around the world, to discuss and showcase the latest innovations, services, equipment, methodologies and matters of the industry.
Construction Expo 2012 (CE2012) will be held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo.
The exhibition has received the endorsement of several ministries in Sri Lanka including the Ministry of Construction and Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Labour and Labour Relations, the Ministry of Land and Land Development and the Senior Ministry of National Resources.
This international event has also received the endorsement of several professional bodies in the country. They include the Institute of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL), the Institute of Quantity Surveyors Sri Lanka (IQSSL), the Chamber of Construction Industry (CCI), the Organisation for Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA) as well as the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL).
The post-war period has seen rapid development in the field of construction in Sri Lanka; thereby making it the best suited time to hold a large scale international construction related exhibition.
The need to exchange information and technology has been recognised and it is hoped that this event shall facilitate this exchange. It is also hoped that this event would act as a platform for striking long-term collaboration between organisations, leading to mutual benefit.
CIOB, the professional body for builders in Sri Lanka, who work to inspire, educate and train builders and professional in Sri Lanka believe that this would provide those in the Sri Lankan building and construction industry with valuable international exposure.
They will receive the opportunity to learn of new technologies, knowledge share with professionals from overseas and gain an overview of the global industry.
CIOB also endeavours to organise a world-class event bringing the best of the industry under one roof. The institute believes that CE 2012 will offer its international participants an understanding of opportunities in Sri Lanka and an insight into the capability of qualified personnel in the local industry.
It also believes Construction Expo 2012 would be the most sought after exhibition for the construction industry in South Asia and that it will help develop the industry in the region as a whole by providing much opportunity to all participants and visitors.
