COMPENSATION PAID TO PAPER FACTORY WORKERS
Compensation has been granted for workers of the Embilipitiya Paper Factory.
The function to pay compensation was held at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute in Colombo this morning. It was organized by the Ministry of State Resources and Enterprise Management. The Embilipitiya Paper Factory has been named as an establishment reviving under the National Industries Resurgence Programme of the Mahinda Chinthana. 170 workers received compensation today. Compensation was paid from 700,000 up to a maximum of 1.3 million rupees. The financial allocation made was 350 million rupees. Minister Dayasritha Tissera, Deputy Minister Sarath Kumara Gunaratne and Ministry Secretary Dr. Willie Gamage were present at the ceremony.
The Perth Engineering Company of Australia is expected to run the factory with modern technology following an agreement reached between the Government and the Private Sector.
