Mosquito larvae density statistics are soaring – Health authorities observe
The Ministry of Health says that the population density of the Dengue mosquito larvae has increased drastically.Chairman of the Health Entomology Science Officers Association says that Sri Lanka marked the highest density of mosquitoes in the world via the Britto index.
Some areas measured 30 and 35 units in the Britto index.Steps have been taken to fumigate the areas which recorded the highest number of Dengue cases in the Colombo District.
Specialist doctor at the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry Hasithsa Tissara said that 60 teams have been deployed to combat rising threat of Dengue.The public were requested to consult a doctor if fever persists for more than two days.
Thirty one deaths have been reported owing to Dengue thus far .47.61 percentage of dengue cases have been reported from the Western Province this year, out of which 19,731 patients diagnosed with the Dengue epidemic.
The Dengue epidemic has drastically increased in Kolonnawa, Kaduwela and Gampaha, and in areas which come under the Dehiwala and Mount Lavinia municipalities.
