Northern Province private bus drivers launch strike
A strike action was launched by private bus drivers of five districts in the Northern Province.Private bus drivers of all districts of the Northern Province have joined the strike action.
Our correspondent said that this situation has resulted in heavy congestion in SLTB buses.Meanwhile, a strike action has been staged by employees of the buses which travel from Chillaw to Colombo and Anamadu to Colombo.
Chairman of the Private Bus Owners Association Gamunu Wijeratne said that the strike action has been staged in protest over an alleged attack on at an employee of a bus which was travelling to Chillaw.
He added that, therefore, normal and luxury buses travelling from Chillaw to Colombo and Anamadu to Colombo have refrained from travel.Meanwhile, another protest was staged by the nursing staff of the Chilaw General Hospital
President of the All Island Nurses Union Gamini Kumarasinghe said that the protest was launched against compulsory leave of a member of the nursing staff of the hospital.
